All sixth graders get to pick choir, orchestra or band. Alex picked band. Then they go to instrument auditions to see which instrument fits them best. So although he wanted to play the trumpet he became a trombone player! Except for having to carry the big thing to and from school, I haven't heard any complaints from him, not even when he has to practice 30 minutes a day.
