Happy Father's Day

I know this is a week late, but I just wanted to thank Geoff for the wonderful father that he is. He is so good with the kids, teaching them and playing with them. I love you Geoff. Also, I wanted to show off his new grill. For those of you who don't know, he knows just how to season burgers, steaks, and chicken on the grill to make them simply irresistible. And now he has a grill mixed with a smoker, can't wait to see what flavors he comes up with now! Yum, yum!

Baby Animals

Ok, so it feels like summer out side with temperatures in the high 90's, but Mother Nature is telling us it is still spring with all the baby animals. A couple weeks ago we found a baby bird in the back of Geoff's truck. It couldn't seem to fly so we brought it inside to feed it and protect it. Well a couple hours later, when it's wings had dried out, it decided to try this flying thing around our house. Mostly it was just little ones, so we easily caught it and the kids all let him perch on their fingers. We decided it had better go back outside. When we put it on the grass it just sat there looking at us for a few minutes and then took flight out of sight. (I guess it wasn't as young as we thought.)

Well yesterday, the kids came running inside saying there was a baby bunny in our yard. So we had to rescue it too. We finally found a little rabbit hole in our yard with two more baby bunnies in it. Well they were to cute to resist and we had to hold them too. (Hopefully mommy still comes back and care for them.) Everyone wanted to take care of them including Oscar. He mainly just sniffed them and nudged them with his nose and tried to get them to hop. But now he is obsessed and keeps ringing his bell to go out and check on there hole.

Ok, so for those who knew me when I was little, I loved animals, so it was mostly me trying to rescue them. But I have to tell you that Hayley is following closely on my heels, now she wants to be a vet when she grows up. And she checks the rabbit hole as much as Oscar, seeing if mom came back, making sure they didn't hop away, and trying to feed them.

And now Alex and I are off to camp, girl's camp and twilight camp for scouts. We'll keep you posted on any other animal sitings.

Last Day Of School

For the last day of school we have adopted the tradition of having a treasure hunt for the kids with a fun activity being the prize at the end. We have been doing this with friends since Alex started kindergarten. This year, after collecting clues from Amber in the hospital, Becky at her house, and "going all over town" as the kids said we ended up at Sonic with all their friends for slushies, and then headed off to Celebration park to play and splash. Despite the very, very windy day, the kids had a blast. This has been a fun tradition, one the kids remember and get excited for. (They even cooperate really well together to solve the clues!) Now I have 4th grader and a 2nd grader, can you believe it?

School Awards

Both kids received awards true to their characters at their award celebrations and the end of school. Alex received an award for being a great athlete, and Hayley received an award for being a great and enthusiastic singer. They both had great teachers, Mrs. Puckett and Mrs. Keim, and enjoyed their new school, Marion.

Geoff and Emily's Birthdays

Geoff and I celebrated our birthday's this past week. With the help of all our family they were great ones. Becky made us a good homemade dinner and Shelley made us a double decker ice cream cake! Hayley enjoyed making us homemade cards and decorating the house while Alex spoiled us by being our servant. Also we received tons of cards and phone calls, thank you all!
