Halloween Scare

OK, so not such a happy Halloween for me this morning. Take a close look at the present Mother Nature left on my backdoor step this morning. I discovered it as I was letting Oscar out. This is a scare I could do without.

4th Grade Show

For the first six weeks of this year, Marion's 4th Grader Class worked on a musical performance to show off at the October PTA. They practiced dancing in gym, singing in music, and made guitars in art. Here is a peek of the results of their hard work. It really was a good show, great job Alex!

October Happenings

We started off this month with a fun visit from Great Grandma Smith! Bill and Sandy dropped her off on their way to San Antonio and then picked her up on their way home. This was a fun visit as she got to see where all her Texas grandchildren lived and see a little into their lives. She even got to experience one of Alex's football games. We had fun dinners, played dominoes, and even met a new cousin. Thanks for your visit Grandma, we love and miss you. When Bill and Sandy came back through, we introduced them to Guitar Hero. I'm not sure who one the most but they both did a great job!

What is fall without a trip to the State Fair. This year was no different. The kids had a blast riding the rides, playing the games, and eating all kinds of fried food. Oh well, it is only once a year, right?

And Finally last weekend I went to San Antonio with some friends for Time Out for Women. It was such a great experience. From the car ride and talking with others that are in the same boat as you and who can relate, to staying in a hotel with nothing to clean, to nice walks on the River Walk, and great inspirational speakers, this is a weekend I highly recommend. This years theme was bringing joy into your life. And after this weekend I came back ready to be happy and enjoy my life.

Rise and Shine

Hayley's class was in charge on Marion's Rise and Shine Assembly today! This is where a class gives the morning announcements and a little performance in front of the school. They did a great job.

Big Game

Ok, so football is a BIG deal in Texas! I can't believe all they do for them. This weekend our boys got to play against the Wild Dawgz in the SMU stadium. Talk about a big deal. During their practice Friday night, all the mom's decorated the cars with streamers and window paint. The next morning we all met so that we could caravan to the game in a Red Dragon parade. The teams even had their names up on the score board! Geoff got to be down on the field for Alex's game since he is on the football board (the rest of the day he spent up in the box keeping score). Most teams also have little cheerleader squads, however the Red Dragons don't, so Hayley and her friends got to go on the field to hold the banner for the team to break through at halftime. They then let them stay on the side of the field and cheer. (All her friends are cheerleaders, or so she thinks, and so she has learned quite the cheer repertoire and is actually quite good) Each team sales team memorabilia for parents to wear, yard signs, car stickers, hats, etc...So I had to include me in a picture supporting Alex in my #8 Gillespie shirt. The Dragons won there game at SMU (20 to 12) and got their picture taken on center field after the game. To celebrate the team went out to Fudruckers and took up half the restaurant. What a fun season Alex is having and it is only half over. Go Red Dragons!

PS I couldn't resist the big screen, what better way to watch football, right?
